J. C. ROSENBAUM PIONEER SETTLER DIED FRIDAY

CAME TO NEBRASKA IN 1863; PARENTS HOMESTEAD SOUTH OF BLAIR

Jefferson Coley Rosenbaum, son of Joseph and Mary Rosenbaum, was born near Maryville, Missouri, September 20, 1862. In the year 1863 he with his parents came to Omaha where they resided for two years before coming to Washington County to reside on a homestead 7 miles south of Blair.

Here he grew to manhood and after his marriage to Miss Emma R. George, of Marion, Virginia, he continued to make this his home until 1923 when he retired from the farm and moved to Blair.

To Mr. and Mrs. Rosenbaum, five children were born, all of whom with the bereaved widow survive. They are Mrs. William Misfeldt and Mrs. Rudolf Thompson, both of Winside, Nebraska and Ewal, of Arlington, Eugene of Fremont and Lloyd of Council Bluffs, Iowa; also eighteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased had been in poor health for several years but had been a patient and uncomplaining sufferer up to his death which occurred in Fremont.

Funeral services were held at the Erwal Rosenbaum home at Arlington and at the First Methodist Church at Blair on last Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Ralph P. Rasmussen of Blair and Rev. T. W. Parkin, of Arlington, officiating and interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.

JEFF ROSENBAUM DIES AT FREMONT

A PIONEER, J. C. ROSENBAUM CAME TO WASHINGTON COUNTY IN 1865

Jeff Rosenbaum, 75, one of the best-known pioneer residents of the Kennard-Blair vicinity, died Friday morning at Lutheran Good Samaritan hospital in Fremont after a long illness. For the past 12 years a resident of Arlington, he had been taken to Fremont in October to be cared for at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles J. Caldwell, and Mr. Caldwell. He was removed to the hospital only a few days before he died.

Jefferson Coley Rosenbaum, son of Joseph and Mary Rosenbaum, was born near Maryville, Missouri, September 20, 1862, and came with them to Omaha the following year. In 1865 the Rosenbaums came to Washington county to reside on a homestead seven miles south of Blair in the Sunnyside district. Young Jeff attended and was graduated from Blair high school.

Continuing to farm the homestead, he was married January 15, 1890, to Emma R. George of Marion, Virginia, and to them were born five children, all of whom survive.

Mr. Rosenbaum and his wife retired from farming in 1923 and moved into Blair, living at Third and Front streets until 1935, when they moved to Arlington.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. William Misfeldt and Mrs. Rudolf Thompson, both of Winside; three sons, Erwal of Arlington, Eugene of Fremont and Lloyd of Council Bluffs; 18 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at the Erwal Rosenbaum home at Arlington Sunday, followed by services at the Blair Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. Officiating were the Revs. Ralph P. Rasmussen of Blair and T. W. Parkin of Arlington Interment was in Blair cemetery. Robert Palme sang two numbers at the services, accompaniment being furnished by Mrs. E. J. Hancock.
