Note: the tombstone has the spelling Carl Schnider. There are other Schniders in that cemetery. Also, the Allen Cemetery is known today as the Pioneer Cemetery (the Allen family did donate land, and there are several Allen’s buried there). The newspaper obituary has different spellings (Karl Schneider) but the details are the same.

Newspaper obituary 14 Feb, 1917, Pilot, Blair, NE

Karl Schneider died at the Fritz Misfeldt home in this city at 8:30 last Thursday evening of old age, being past 83 years of age, and the funeral was held at the house at 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. A.W. Lambrecht officiating. The body was taken to the Allen cemetery, south of Blair, for burial by the side of his wife, who died some fifteen years ago.

There were no children.

Mr. Schneider was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, and came to this country when but 18 years of age. He farmed in the southern part of the county for a good many years but has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Misfeldt for several years.

He leaves one sister, the widow of the late H.D. Schneider, her maiden name being the same as her married name.
