HANS PETERSEN, Sr.

Hans Petersen, seventy eight years of age, an old and respected citizen of this county passed away at his home in this city on Wednesday evening, August 20, 1924 of heart trouble.

Mr. Petersen was born in Schleswig-Holstein and came to this country in 1876 making his home in California for a number of years.

In 1883 he went back to the old country where he married Miss Marie Brodersen and returned to this county settling here.

Shortly afterward he bought the eighty acre farm southeast of Blair known as the Pennington eighty on which he lived for twenty years.

He left the farm fourteen years ago and since that time has made his home in Blair.

The wife died on March 10, 1923 and since that time he and his brother John Petersen, and his son, Walter and wife have lived together in the home.

He leaves to mourn him seven children: Mrs. Wm. Reeh, of Blair; Mrs. Fred Christiansen, of Hampton, Nebraska; Hans Petersen, Jr.; Mrs. Frank Jensen, Herman Petersen and Walter Petersen, of Blair; and Mrs. Martin Jacobson, of Alliance; and his brother, John Petersen, fourteen grand children and one great grand child.

Funeral services will be at the M. E. Church on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with Rev. Underwood officiating and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.

Hans Petersen, Sr. passed away at about 11 o’clock last Wednesday night of heart trouble and the funeral service was held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev. W. H. Underwood officiating. Mr. Petersen was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and came to this country in 1876, making his home in California for a time. In 1883 he went to the old home and was married to Miss Marie Broderson and upon returning to America made his home in this county, living on a farm west of Blair for about twenty years. Fourteen years ago he moved to this city and built a nice home opposite the Presbyterian church where Death found him. His wife passed away March 10th, 1923, and the surviving children are Mrs. Wm. Reeh, of this city, Mrs. Fred Christensen, of Hampton, Neb., Hans Petersen, Jr., Mrs. Frank Jensen, Herman and Walter Petersen, all of Blair, and Mrs. Martin Jacobson, of Alliance, Neb. A brother, John, has been making his home with him. There are fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
