Mrs. Hans Petersen, Sr., died at her home in this city at about noon yesterday from a cancer that became serious last December. Since that time she has failed gradually, there seeming to be no escape from the ravages of the disease. The funeral will be held at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock tomorrow, Thursday, afternoon, Rev. J.A. Johnson and Rev. W.H. Underwood officiating. Christina Maria Broderson was born in Glucksburg, Schleswig, Germany, January 5th, 1858, and so was just past 65 years of age. She was married to Hans Petersen February 4th, 1883, and came directly to this country, Mr. Petersen having been here for some nine years previous to their marriage. They lived on a farm near Blair until 1912, when they moved to this city, building a nice home on west Washington street. Eight children were born to them, four sons and four daughters, one son, John, having passed away in 1910 at the age of 18 years. The children living are: Kate, Mrs. Wm. Reeh, of this city, Dora, Mrs. Fred Christensen of Hampton, Neb., Hans, Jr., Freda, Mrs. Frank Jensen, Herman, Martha, Mrs. Martin Jacobson, and Walter, all of this city. Burial will be in the Blair cemetery.
