Harlan L. Petersen, 84

Herman native Harlan L. Petersen, 84, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at his home in Omaha.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Military graveside services will be held at the Blair Cemetery.

Harlan LeRoy Petersen was born Oct. 3, 1920 at Herman to Albert and Katie (Pedersen) Petersen. He graduated from Rosalie High School in 1938, and serviced in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Feb. 2, 1942, he married Anna Christ in Craig; she died in 1973. On March 10, 1979, he married Shirley Couch in Blair.

Mr. Petersen farmed north of Spiker until 1988, when he and his wife moved to Herman. They made their home in Omaha since 2004.

He was a life member of the Herman American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Carol Petersen of Lincoln; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Gary Tuma of Blair, Karen and Tim Swanson of Thurston; stepchildren and their spouses, Wanda Modica and Margaret Alford, both of Michigan, Cynthia and Ron Salie of Massachusetts, Donald Wolford, Tekamah; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Donna Petersen, Blair; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Fred Vaca, Omaha; Betty and Chester Larsen of Fremont, Mary Alice and Harold Frahm, Hemingford; stepbrothers and stepsisters, Jack and Dennis Couch, Ruth Schmitt, Teresa Schulze, Patty Dolezal, Claire Biggerstaff, and Jean and JoAnn Couch, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first wife, Anna, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elaine Plummer and Lois Petersen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

SERVICES 10 AM Fri., First Lutheran church. Burial Blair Cemetery. VISITATION Begins 10am Thurs, with family receiving friends from 6-8pm. Memorials to famiy, in lieu of flowers.
