MISS CANNON FUNERAL HELD

HAZEL CANNON, 55, VETERAN SCHOOL TEACHER, DIED IN OMAHA

Miss Hazel Cannon, 55, former Blairite and long a teacher in the schools of this area, died last Thursday at St. Catherine Hospital in Omaha after a long illness.

Funeral rites were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Omaha, and burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Blair. The Rev. Edward O’Donnell had charge of local graveside rites.

Native of Blair, Miss Cannon was born Apr. 11, 1900. She was a graduate of Blair High School, Wayne State Teachers College and the University of Omaha. Miss Cannon taught in the Washington County rural schools for 22 years, principally at Cuming City, Wranch and McCarthy. The past 16 years she taught at Bancroft School in Omaha.

For a number of years she resided at the Alfred O. Sick home here.

FORMER RESIDENT BURIED HERE

Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery at Blair last Saturday morning for Miss Hazel Cannon, a former Blair resident and a teacher here for several years.

Miss Cannon, who had been making her home in Omaha, died after several weeks of illness.
