MRS. CAPPS DIED HERE WEDNESDAY

Mrs. E. V. Capps, known to many as Claudia H. Capps, passed away at the McBride Nursing Home in Blair shortly after noon Wednesday. She had been in failing health for several years and had been at the nursing home since February 5th.

Mrs. Capps had lived at 1518 Colfax street for the past 55 years.

She was born at White Heath, Illinois July 14th, 1876, and it was in that area that she grew to womanhood. On December 18, 1895 she was married to E. V. Capps at Champaign, Illinois. As a young couple they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where Mr. Capps taught physics and chemistry at the University of Nebraska. Later they moved to Blair where Mr. Capps directed the operations of the electric plant.

Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Capps studied music at the Champaign College of Music at Champaign, Ill. After coming to this area, she continued her interest in music and also studied voice culture under Madam Millie Ryan of Omaha.

She began the teaching of piano and voice more than 50 years ago and her pupils number into the thousands. She continued to teach until two years ago.

Mrs. Capps is survived by one son, Stanley Capps of Lincoln; and by one grandson, Stanley B. Capps of Washington, New Jersey. There are also four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Campbell Mortuary Friday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.

The Rev. Donald Springer of the First Methodist Church will be in charge of the services.
