S. James Carey, 48, of Blair, died Jan. 27, 2008, in Blair.

Military graveside services, conducted by Blair VFW Post No. 1251, were held Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Blair Cemetery.

Shawn James Carey was born Dec. 31, 1959, in Omaha to James and Helen (McCarthy) Carey.

He enlisted on Jan. 27, 1978, and spent 17 years in the Air Force. He was discharged on Jan. 31, 1995. In the Air Force, he attained the rank of Technical Sergeant (E6). His military specialty was 2A373B, Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Craftsman.

He was a member of the Blair VFW Post.

He is survived by his two children, Nastasya and Dillion Carey; mother, Helen Carey of Blair; brothers, Patrick Carey of Concord, Mass.; and Ron Dughman of Omaha; and a sister, Patti Yowell of Scottsbluff.

He was preceded in death by his father, James, and half-brother, Mark Carey.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
