Carolyn A. Smith, 67, of Blair, died after a sudden illness Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. Services will be in the spring of 2014 and inurnment at Prospect Hill cemetery in Elkhorn.

Carolyn Anne (Allerton) Smith was born March 1, 1946, in Omaha, to Lewis Edward Sr. and Carolyn Mae (Keefe) Allerton.

She attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She was married to Robert Lee Smith on Feb. 19, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nev.

She worked in the restaurant industry, and later in her life, as a medical transcriptionist.

She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3215 in Blair and was a past Madam President of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of Congregational United Church of Christ in Blair and was an active member of the Women’s Fellowship and served as an officer.

She was also an avid reader and she loved her cat, Mr. Tucker.

She is survived by her sons, Richard E. Bowen (Angela) of Omaha, and Matthew W. Bowen (Jennifer) of Carson, Iowa; daughter Anne M. (Gary) Meek of Bristol, Conn..; brother and sister-in-law Bill (Rita) Gorman of Severna Park, Md.; sister-in-law Florence Allerton of Valley; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 2001; her parents: Lewis in 2006 and Carolyn in 2002; and brother, Lewis E. Allerton Jr. on October 29, 2013.
