John Christopher, 92, of Blair died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services were Monday, Dec, 16, at First United Methodist Church in Blair.

John Christopher was born Dec. 16, 1920, to Giovanni and Lucia (Dominic) DeChristofaro. He was born and raised in Sykesville, Penn.

He worked as a coal miner for several years. Then at the age of 20, he followed his brother, Mike, to South Dakota.

He joined the U.S. Army Aug. 1, 1942. He served at Camp Hale in Colorado and Fort Lewis in Washington.

On Dec. 18, 1944, he married Jessie Darlene Blake in Tacoma, Wash.

He and his brother, Mike, were owner/operators of Christopher Body Shop for 45 years.

He served as superintendent of the Blair Golf Course for many years, was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of First United Methodist Church in Blair.

He enjoyed yard work, bow hunting, golf, reading and Husker football.

He is survived by his son, Gary Christopher of Blair; and daughter and son-in-law Laurie Christopher and Charles Lee of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie; two brothers and three sisters.

Memorials may be directed to the Blair American Legion Club.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair is in charge of arrangements.
