Death date calculated based on a day of the week finder that showed Feb. 14, 1917 to be Wednesday, which would mean that the “last Thursday evening” would have been Feb. 8, 1917. However, the tombstone has Feb. 6, 1917.

Schneider, Karl

Karl Schneider died at the Fritz Misfeldt home in this city at 8:30 last Thursday evening of old age, being past 83 years of age, and the funeral was held at the house at 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. A.W. Lambrecht officiating. The body was taken to the Allen cemetery south of Blair, for burial by the side of his wife, who died some fifteen years ago. There were no children.

Mr. Schneider was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, and came to this country when but 18 years of age. He farmed in the southern part of the county for a good many years but has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Misfeldt for several years. He leaves one sister, the widow of the late H.D. Schneider, her maiden name being the same as her married name.

Another Retired Washington Co. Farmer Answer Call

Karl Schneider, aged 83 years succumbed to the infirmities of old age Friday. Funeral services were held from the Misfeldt residence on Colfax Street Monday afternoon and the remains were interred in the Allen Cemetery, eight miles south of this city. The funeral ceremonies were conducted by Rev. Lambrecht of the German Lutheran Church.

The deceased was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, and for many years farmed in Washington County. His wife died about fifteen years ago.
