| Little Barbara Fairchild died suddenly last Saturday afternoon. The heart of everyone in the entire community was saddened to learn the sad news. She had been quite ill the past two weeks, first with a case of mumps and later with diphtheria. She had been given the best of care and seemed to be improving, when suddenly took a choking spell Sunday and passed away in a very few minutes.
Barbara Ann Fairchild was born April 3, 1921 in Kennard and after a short illness passed away at home here September 15, 1923, at 2 years, 5 months and 12 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Fairchild and her two brothers, Benjamin and George, and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at home Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. W. D. Smith officiating. Since the home is quarantined for diphtheria, the services were held out on the front porch. The little casket was placed just outside the window so that the relatives and friends present could view the remains. After a prayer and the reading of the obituary, the body was taken to the Kennard Cemetery for burial.
