Clara K. Schoettger, 86

Graveside services for Clara K. Schoettger, 86, of Columbia, Missouri, who died June 9, 1994, at Candlelight Care Center will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16 at the Arlington Cemetery in Arlington. Rev. Norman Pavey of First Congregational Church, U.C.C. of Fremont will officiate.

Services at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Columbia were June 11 with Rev. Tom E. Adams officiating.

Clara K. Schoettger was born June 11, 1907 in South Bend, Indiana to Henry and Emma Kaizer Schoettger.

During the 1930’s, she worked with the United States Postal Service. She then taught and lived with the Sioux Indians at the Rosebud Indian Reservation near Pine Ridge, South Dakota.

After teaching for about six years, she joined the Red Cross in St. Paul, Minnesota where she served during World War II.

Before moving to Columbia, she owned a children’s clothing shop in Omaha, Nebraska.

She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Columbia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.

She is survived by one nephew, Richard Schoettger of Columbia.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.
