RAYMOND CARLSEN DIED AT AGE OF 59

Services were held in Des Moines, Iowa, for 50 year old Raymond C. Carlsen of Des Moines. Mr. Carlsen died at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 15th.

Raymond C. Carlsen was born on August 3, 1919 in Royal, Iowa to Dr. and Mrs. N. C. Carlsen. He graduated from Blair High School, attended Dana College and graduated from Oklahoma A. and M. He was married to Mazelle on June 15, 1955 at Cedar Falls, Iowa. He was also a World War II Veteran.

Mr. Carlsen worked for Bell Telephone for 33 years and was Staff Manager for Distribution and Engineering Administration in the Des Moines office. Survivors include his wife Mazelle; a son, James of Tacoma, Washington; and a daughter, Dianna Olstead of Rock Island, Illinois.

Surviving sisters include: Ester Hansen, Audubon, Iowa; Rhoda Hall, Spokane, Washington; Lois Sorensen, Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and Eunice Larsen, Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Surviving brothers are: Alvin of Shenandoah, Iowa; Viggo of Omaha; Verner of Moorpark, California; Stanley of Des Moines and Niels of Aptos, California. There is one grandchild plus 39 nephews and nieces including Dave Carlsen of Blair.

Three brothers and two brother-in-laws officiated at the service. The service was in the Central Lutheran Church with burial in the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Pallbearers were officers of Bell Telephone Company.
