Blendina May Rounds, 80, of Mondamin, Iowa, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at the Rose Vista Care Center in Woodbine, Iowa.

Funeral services were Dec. 21, at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa, with the Rev. Wayne Bahr officiating. Interment was in the Calhoun Cemetery in Missouri Valley.

Blendina “Dean” May Rounds was born May 1, 1922, in Mondamin to William and Bertha (Jobe) Dryden. She grew up on the family farm in Mondamin, and graduated from Mondamin High School in 1939.

On October 25, 1941, she was married to Hershel L. Rounds.

For many years, Mrs. Rounds was known as an avid bowler. She worked at Carol Spooner’s Dance Studio and enjoyed working with the children. She also helped at the Blair Twin Theater on weekends, a business owned by her daughter and son-in-law.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Charles Ives of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; son, Hershel Rounds of Council Bluffs; five grandchildren and their spouses; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel; sisters, Freda, Gladys and Doris, and brothers, Alva, Raymond, Mervin and Darrell.

Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
