Julia Petersen, 96

Services for Julia Petersen, age 96 of Blair, who died at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair January 7, 1995 will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 1995 at First Lutheran Church, with burial in the Herman Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.

Julia A. Petersen was born in Washington County on the family farm near Hooper, Nebraska, on March 23, 1898. She was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Larson Christiansen.

She attended Hewett School.

On January 16, 1921 she married Thorvald W. Petersen. They farmed in the Hill Creek area until his death in 1955.

After Thorvald’s death she worked at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha and in 1956 went to work for the newly opened Blair Hospital. She retired in 1980.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church and Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two infant sons, granddaughter, Jane Eppley; one great-grandchild, Emily Stricklett; four sisters and three brothers.

Surviving her in death is her daughter, Darleen Sackett, Omaha, Nebraska; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Robert K. Johnson, Mesa, Arizona and Phyllis and Roger Stricklett, Blair, Nebraska; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Mary Lou Petersen, Herman, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand-daughter, nieces and nephews.

Memorial may be directed either to First Lutheran Church or Memorial Community Hospital.
