Julius Petersen, 91, Died At York Home

Julius Petersen, a former Blair businessman died on Thursday, August 9th, at the Odd Fellows Home in York, Nebraska. He had made his home there for a number of years.

Mr. Petersen, for many years, operated a hardware store in the building now occupied by the B and C Shop. Later, he built the building now occupied by Clarence King’s Blue Ribbon tavern in the center of the block and he continued to operate there until his retirement about 20 years ago.

Mr. Petersen was born August 23, 1871 in Denmark and came to this country as a young man. His wife, the former Elizabeth Christensen, died in 1950. The couple had no children.

Mr. Petersen is survived by a nephew, Myron Brock of Washington, D. C., a niece Mrs. Hans H. Bradder, Denver, niece Mrs. Karren Rasmussen of Exeter, Nebraska, and a nephew, Otto Petersen, also of Exeter, and by nieces Mrs. H.H. Christensen, Chicago, Mrs. Julia Parker, Lincoln, Miss Gerda Petersen, Lincoln and a nephew Hans Petersen of Hemingford, Nebraska.p> Funeral services were held at 10 A.M. in York on Saturday. Rev. F.W. Thomsen of Dana was in charge of the graveside services in the Blair cemetery at 4 P.M. on Saturday, August 11th. The Bendorf Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were: Fred Peck, Elmer Anderson, LeRoy Creach, Leslie Bucklin, Chris Korshoj and Robert Rasmussen.
