Ralph E. Fairchild Former County Superintendent, Dies

Ralph E. Fairchild, former Blair man and County Superintendent of Schools of Washington County for 15 years, died last Saturday, October 12th in Fremont. He had been living in Fremont in recent years.

Mr. Fairchild was born May 25, 1887, at Kennard. He began his teaching career in rural schools of Washington County. Later, he was elected County Superintendent. He also spent a number of years in Alaska where he was engaged in teaching in a government school.

He is survived by his wife, Frieda and one son, E. Howard Fairchild of North Platte, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother Edgar, of Minden, two sisters, Alma Crapenhoft of Florida and Georgia Isaacson of Omaha. Stepchildren, Charles Clark of Detroit, Michigan, and Mildred Peterson of Plainview, three step grandchildren, and eight step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. The burial was made in the Kennard Cemetery. Masonic graveside services were conducted by John S. Bowen, Masonic Lodge No. 232 of Kennard.
