Robert J. Schreurs Sr., 90, of Lincoln, died Sunday, May 24, 2009.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Havelock United Methodist Church, 4140 North 60th St., in Lincoln. A private committal service will follow.

Robert John Schreurs Sr. was born May 3, 1919, in Firth to Meno and Elvira (Shipp) Schreurs.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and served aboard the USS Mertz in the Pacific. He was a retired welder and had been involved in bridge fabrication. He also farmed north of Lincoln and raised Arabian horses near Davey.

Mr. Schreuers was a member of Havelock United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons and daughter-in-law: Robert Jr. and Shirley Schreurs of Blair, and James Schreurs of Lincoln; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Donna Almery and Linda Schreurs; sisters, Evelyn, Dorothy, Pauline and Caroline; and brothers, Elmer and Melvin.

Roper and Sons Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
