McBride, 22, Dead; Climbing Fall Blamed

Services for Lyle E. McBride 3rd, 22, reportedly killed while mountain climbing in California, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Covenant Presbyterian Church.

He was the son of former Omaha resident Lyle E. McBride Jr.

His grandmother, Mrs. Hilfrie McBride, 4621 North Fifty-second street, said details of when and how her grandson died are still sketchy. She said the family received word Thursday that McBride died from a fall while mountain climbing.

Mrs. McBride said her grandson was on vacation in California. He was to have started veterinary medicine school at Iowa State University in Ames this fall, she said.

Just over a year ago, McBride was shot and critically wounded by an intruder at an Iowa State dormitory where he was working as a security guard.

He is survived by his parents, two brothers and three sisters, all of Norton, Mass., and his grandmother.

Funeral Services Today For Lyle E. McBride III

Funeral services for Lyle E. McBride III of Norton, Mass., will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Omaha, with the Rev. William Beatty officiating.

McBride, 22, died March 2 in California.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle E. McBride, Jr., of Norton, Mass.

He is survived by his parents, two brothers, George and Allen, and three sisters, Jane, Mavis and Catherine, all of Norton, and two grandparents, Mrs. Lyle E. McBride, Sr., of Omaha and Mrs. V. T. Crimmings of Hollywood, Florida.
