Clarence F. Schreiner, 90

Clarence F. Schreiner, 90, of Blair, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.

Clarence F. Schreiner was born Oct. 2, 1916, in Nebraska City to Joseph and Mary (Ullsberger) Schreiner. He graduated from St. Bernard Academy in 1934.

On Sept. 21, 1939, he married Elva Maynard in Seward.

The couple ran the Little Diner restaurant and the Western Auto Store in Nebraska City until moving to Blair in 1950. They then operated the Gamble’s Hardware Store in Blair until 1968. After selling the store, Mr. Schreiner worked for Vinton Motors for five years.

Mr. Schreiner was a member of the Nebraska City Fire Department for eight years, and was a 56-year member of the Blair Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Elva; three sisters-in-law, Floy Hohnroth and Rose Schreiner, both of Nebraska City, and Lea Pearson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a step-sister.

Memorials are suggested to the Blair Fire Department.
