Services for Peter Kenneth Petersen, 80 of West Point, Nebraska who died at Clarkson Hospital October 26, 1995 were Monday, October 30, 1995 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Peter Kenneth Petersen was born February 20, 1915 in Douglas County, Nebraska to Walter and Anna Jansen Petersen. He grew up in the Douglas and Washington County areas.

He married Edna Esther Livermore February 8, 1939. They lived and farmed most of their life in Washington County, moving to West Point, Nebraska in 1965 where he farmed and worked at the West Point Sale Barn of the past 30 years.

He and his wife bought a pair of mules, Jack and Jill, about 25 years ago. They gave rides at local fairs, escorted wedding parties, birthday parties and anniversary parties with the mules and buggies they bought and collected. He also attended many parades with his mules and buggy.

He belonged to the Crazy 8 Card Club and the Nebraskaland Spinning Spoke Buggy Club. He was a member of the Wranch School District No. 25 School Board for a number of years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in West Point.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna and a grandson, Scott Arp.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Edna Mae and Jerry Bonney, Omaha; Jeanine and Jay Dunn, Irvington; Karen and Larry Arp, Bennington; Donna VanBuren and Kyle Engelhardt, Omaha; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Geraldine Petersen, Lyons, Nebraska; Terry and Nancy Petersen, West Point; a sister, Rosemary Welch, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
