Ralph Raymond Petersen, 80 died Friday, March 28, 1997 in St. George, UT.

Services are Tuesday at Davis Funeral Home in Las Vegas, Nev. Burial will be in Paradise Memorial Gardens in Las Vegas.

Petersen was born March 8, 1917 in Arlington to Herman and Nettie (Wilkins) Petersen and was raised in the area. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and in the U.S. Naval Reserves for two years. He worked as an air traffic controller for many years, retiring as chief air traffic controller from McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. On Feb. 8, 1943 he married Claudia Myers in Ely, Nev.

Survivors are his wife, Claudia; four children, Clark and Jack, both of Las Vegas; Gary, Minneapolis, Minn. and Debbie Lewis, Washington, UT; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one sister, Iva Note, Edmonds, Wash.

Arrangements were under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.
