Herman native Ruth F. McMillen, 91, died Sept. 27, 2010, in Gresham, Ore.

A funeral Mass was held Thursday, Sept. 30, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Gresham. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham.

Ruth Florence Colgan was born Feb. 20, 1919, in Herman to George and Anna (Bricker) Colgan.

On May 23, 1938, she married Ralph McMillen in Kansas City, Mo. The couple moved to Gresham in 1947, where she became active in the Berry Growers Association and St. Henry Catholic Church.

She loved playing cards, including rummy, pinochle, and euchre; gardening; farming; sewing and especially spending time with her grandchildren and family. She is remembered as a hard-headed, self-reliant person.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Carol McMillen; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Alex Jacoby; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ethel Hineline of Blair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1981.

Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Research.
