Henrietta J. McCandless, 81

Henrietta J. McCandless, 81, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at her home in Bellevue.

Henrietta J. Misfeldt was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Kennard to Charles and Helena (Rasmussen) Misfeldt. She attended grade school in Washington and graduated from Blair High School in 1945. She worked in Omaha at various jobs and at Northern Natural Gas Co.

On Dec. 11, 1952, she married Harry McCandless. The couple lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and later moved to Bellevue. Her husband was a pilot and operated the South Omaha and Council Bluffs airports.

Mrs. McCandless was a homemaker and was quite artistic. She painted many pictures for the family and made lots of cards, which are treasured by those who received them.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kathy, Sam and Diana, and Mickey; two grandchildren; four sisters, Marjorie Grenier, Genene Quick, Mary Lou Jessen, all of Wyoming, and Alice Byers of Blair, and a brother, Melvin “Red” Misfeldt of Arlington; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 1974; a son, Harry Jr.; and brothers, Norman and Ivan “Rusty” Misfeldt.
