#1 Bernice C. McCann, 81

Memorial services were held at Mountain View Memorial Park in Mesa, Arizona for Bernice C. McCann, 81, who died January 15, 1996 at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa after a brief illness.

Bernice C. McCann was born September 27, 1914 to Elmer and Elsie Miller, who lived on a farm just west of Kennard. She attended school in Kennard.

She married LeRoy McCann September 7, 1934. They farmed near Kennard until 1962. During the years they farmed, she assisted with the farming operation and raised flocks of chickens. They spent their winters in Mesa for many years before making it their permanent home three years ago.

She served for many years as Sunday School superintendent at the Methodist Church in Kennard.

She was president of the Nebraska Caravan group, the only woman to hold that position in Nebraska. With their Airstream trailer, they visited all 48 states and much of Canada and Mexico.

She is survived by her husband, LeRoy; a brother, Leonard Miller of Eugene, Oregon and many nieces and nephews.
