Clarence J. Matzen, 88

Clarence J. Matzen, 88, of Blair, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Clarence Joseph Matzen was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Blair to Emil and Olivia (Christ) Matzen.

He served in the Army during World War II.

On Dec. 22, 1944, he married Ingrid Jensen.

Mr. Matzen farmed in Washington County and later was a custodian for the Blair schools.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kitty Matzen; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana Hansen, Cindy and Clyde Rothfuss, and Susan and Bob Trumbo, allof Blair; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Katherine Koenig of Blair and Clara Wierbein of Tekamah.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ingrid; son, Steven; granddaughter, Tracy Bolton; and brothers and sisters.

Memorials are suggested to Emmaus Lutheran Church, Country Bible Church of Blair, or the Blair Rescue Squad.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
