Walter McCannon, Jr., 71

A memorial graveside service was held Monday, August 5 at Carman Cemetery in Carman, Illinois for Walter McCannon, Jr., 71 of Burlington, Iowa, who died August 2, 1996 at the Burlington Medical Center. Chaplain Shirley Bliven officiated.

Walter McCannon, Jr. was born August 2, 1925 in Keokuk, Iowa to Walter and Georgia Kimbrough McCannon. He was raised by Edna McCannon.

He was a truck driver.

He was a member of The Tangier Shrine Temple in Omaha and was a 32nd degree Mason, Omaha. He was a member of Nebraska Eagles Lodge No. 3215, Blair and of the Loyal Order of the Moose in California and was a past president of the SALS at Perris, California.

He married Marjorie Elizabeth Roberts in Kahoka, Missouri September 20, 1941. She preceded him in death May 8, 1995.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Edna McCannon and three brothers.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Carlson of Reed Springs, Missouri and Brenda Loewe of Englewood, Colorado; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill McCannon and Don McCannon, both of Burlington, Iowa; two sisters, Margaret Strauss of Dexter, Iowa and Sandy McCannon of Burlington and a special companion, Joan McCannon of Burlington.

Hass Funeral Home in Burlington was in charge of arrangements.
