DIES SUDDENLY OF POISONING

ROBERT CARMICHAEL VICTIM OF TOAD STOOL POISONING, DOCTORS BELIEVE

SICK BUT A FEW HOURS

The three-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Carmichael died suddenly last Tuesday at 9:00 A.M., following a severe but brief illness of but few hours’ duration.

Robert George Lee Carmichael was born in Omaha, June 6, 1938, and took sick late Monday night of an ailment which doctors could not readily diagnose. At the time, he and his mother were visiting at the home of Mrs. Carmichael’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George R. Hatfield in south Blair.

Medical aid was summoned but the little fellow passed away Tuesday morning at 9 A.M., despite all efforts to save him. The cause of his death was still undetermined and a post mortem was ordered which was attended by all Blair doctors, several from Omaha and one from Kansas City. Final decision was poisoning, believed to have come from eating or handling toad stools.

The body was taken to the Campbell Mortuary and services are being held this (Thursday) afternoon.

Surviving besides the parents is a baby sister, Marilyn, nine months old, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carmichael, great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hatfield of Blair, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Carmichael, also of Blair. Mrs. Dora Brumett of Lincoln, also survives.
