Michael A. "Mike" Hoffman, 55, of Blair, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014.

The celebration of life ceremony will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Cutler-O'Neill Funeral Home in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Michael A. Hoffman was born Sept. 15, 1958, to G.F. and Betty Hoffman in Leon, Iowa.

He graduated from Leon High School in 1976 and received a journalism degree from the University of Iowa in 1980.

He worked in the telephone industry for 30 years, allowing him to live in several countries. He made friends everywhere.

He loved watching sports, particularly the Colorado Rockies, the Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Whenever he would get the opportunity, he would head up to his favorite place, Long Lake in Park Rapids, Minn., to enjoy the company of family and friends.

He is survived by his loving companion, Tammy Hughbanks, of Blair; brother Todd Hoffman (Janet) of Omaha; his children: Ryan Michael Hoffman and wife April of Omaha and Elizabeth Marie Hoffman of Philadelphia; grandchildren: Jaidyn Michael Hoffman, Elle Kate Hoffman and Lily Abigail Hoffman of Omaha; nieces and nephew: Sarah Elizabeth Hoffman, Katherine Patricia "Kate" Hoffman and Scott Eric Hoffman of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Frederick "G.F." Hoffman II in 2011 and Betty Marie (Adamson) Hoffman in 2006; brother George Frederick "Jeff" Hoffman III in 2009; and daughter Abigail Nicole Hoffman in 2006.

A memorial fund has been set up and the funds will be donated to a charity of his liking.
