Howard Neil McClanahan, 79, died July 7, 1999, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Services were 10 a.m. Saturday, July 10 at Clara-Ellen Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun.

Visitation was Friday, July 9 from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The family received friends between 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Howard Neil McClanahan was born Sept. 15, 1919, to Andrew and Eva McClanahan in Tekamah.

He attended high school in Tekamah and worked as a route salesman in the Omaha area.

On Dec. 23, 1939, he married Maxine Pierson in Hiawatha, Kan.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Jack, Tom and Mick; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jay.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin and Keith; two sisters, Goldie and Hellen; and grandson, Mark.

Memorials are suggested to Fort Calhoun Fire and Rescue.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun was in charge of arrangements.
