Dorothy M. McClain, 79, of Blair, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Good Shepherd Home in Blair.

Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 8, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. Interment was in the Kennard Cemetery.

Dorothy Maxine Campbell was born Nov. 14, 1927, in Elmo, MO, to Clyde and Esther (Allen) Campbell.

She attended school in Macy through the 9th grade.

On May 6, 1944, she married Lyle McClain in Pender. While her husband was in the service in the South Pacific during World War II, she lived with her husband's family. During this time, through her mother-in-law, she developed a lifelong interest in baking, canning, and just cooking in general.

Upon her husband's return from the service, the couple farmed in Winnebago and Macy. When they moved to Blair, they started a cleaning business, which they operated for 17 years until they decided to retire. They cleaned businesses throughout the area, including the Washington County Courthouse, the Blair Clinic, and grocery stores in and around Blair. Mrs. McClain will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend. She reminisced about the many years she spent helping the Vacation Bible School children. She will also be remembered for her loving nature, open heart and being the one who "always had the coffee on".

She is survived by a daughter, Penny Graham of Lincoln,; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Elven Campbell of Hooper; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and a sister.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
