Raymond M. Schroeder died at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, July 21, 1987.

The son of the late Henry J. and Anna Schroeder of Blair, he was born at Fullerton February 18, 1917.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1945.

After the war, he returned to teaching at Stamford.

He was united in marriage to JoAnn Carraher of Stamford in November, 1945.

He acquired his Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska in 1953, and served on the faculty in the Department of Education at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion until his retirement in 1982.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert W. Schroeder of Tekamah.

He is survived by his wife JoAnn, four sons, four daughters and sixteen grandchildren.

Also surviving are one brother, Richard and three sisters Katharine, Marian, and Mrs. Rudy (Veronica) Fuhrman all of Herman.

The funeral mass was offered July 24, 1987 in St. Agnes Catholic Church of Vermillion, South Dakota, with interment in Calvary Cemetery, Vermillion.
