ARLINGTON --- John Rodney Peterson, 62, a retired United States Postal Service employee, died Sunday morning at the Fremont hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Arlington Community Church. The Rev. Bryce Hecht will officiate.

Peterson was born April 3, 1912, in Arlington and lived in the community all his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II and attended Midland College and the University of Nebraska. A postal clerk, Peterson was acting postmaster at Arlington for several years. He was past master of Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 52, A.F. & A.M., past worthy patron of Sarepta chapter No, 58, Order of Eastern Star and a member of Arlington Community Church. He also was a member of Arlington VFW Post No, 8332 and Arlington American Legion Post No. 71.

Peterson retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1972 after 26 years of service. He married Martha Heuerman Feb. 11, 1939, at Glenwood, Iowa.

Survivors include his widow; and son, Ronald (Monnie), Omaha.

Memorials have been established for the heart fund or Arlington Community Church.

Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.

Reckmeyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
