DELMAR McCANN GONE

Delmar Mc Cann, a well known resident of this county, died at the Nicholas Sen hospital in Omaha on Saturday, Dec. 4, 1915, following an operation for tonsillitis.

He had regarded the operation as nothing serious when he left his home at Arlington but complications set in which proved fatal.

Mr. Mc Cann was born in Arlington township, Oct. 29, 1879 and was reared to manhood on the farm between Kennard and Arlington.

He was married to Miss Drussilla K. Stewart of this county on Nov. 14, 1900 and to this union two children were born: Beth, aged 14 years and Ruth, aged 8 years.

The funeral services were held in Arlington yesterday December 7th with Rev. Esplin, who had been a life long friend officiating at the ceremonies which were in charge of the Masonic order of which he was a member in good standing.

The interment was made in the Kennard cemetery, the pall bearers being Clyde Cook, Joe Neale, Elmer Miller, Clyde Badger, Fred De Weber and Don C. Weber.

The large attendance of friends at the funeral was mute evidence of the regard in which the deceased was held in his community.

He leaves to mourn him a wife and two daughters; a mother; three brothers and four sisters.

Mr. McCann was a personal friend of the writer and we feel the deepest sympathy with the bereaved relatives who have lost a loved one who was really worthy, always a man in the highest sense of the word and always thoughtful of the welfare of others.

DELMER McCANN PASSES AWAY

The report of the death of Delmer McCann which came to Blair last Sunday touched the hearts of the Blair friends of this big-hearted man. His death occurred at the Nicholas Senn hospital in Omaha on Saturday night. He had been troubled a great deal with tonsillitis and went to Omaha on Friday for the purpose of having his tonsils removed and submitted to the operation that evening from the efforts of which he never recovered.

Deceased was a son of Isaac McCann, who died at his home in Kennard two years ago. His aged mother is still living at Kennard. Delmar was born Oct. 29, 1879, on the old homestead midway between Kennard and Arlington and reared there. Nov. 14th, 1900 he married Miss Drusilla Stewart, one of the most popular and brightest teachers in the county and of this union two daughters, Beth and Ruth, aged 14 and 8 years, respectively, are left with their mother to mourn the death of an indulgent, devoted father and a loving affectionate husband, such a father and husband as it falls to the lot of only a few wives and children to have. Besides his own family and his aged mother, he has three brothers and four sisters living, all residents of Washington county except Henry, who lives in Oklahoma.

The funeral service was held at the home in Arlington at two o’clock p.m. last Tuesday, Rev. Wm. Esplin preaching the funeral discourse and the remains were then taken in charge by the Masonic fraternity, of which organization and the Eastern Star he was a member, and taken to Kennard for burial by the side of his father.
