Former Arlington resident, Esther I. Royuk, 89, of Blair, died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at Good Shepherd Home in Blair.

Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington. Interment will be in the St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation began Thursday at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home and will also be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, and at the church, one hour prior to services.

Esther I. Hoffmann was born July 22, 1932, in rural Cedar Bluffs and attended St. Matthew Parochial School.

On June 16, 1940, she married John Royuk at St. Matthew Lutheran Church at Cedar Bluffs. After her marriage, the couple farmed 5 miles north of Arlington until moving into Arlington in 1963.

Mrs. Royuk did wall papering and painting from 1960 to 1990. She moved to the Pathfinder House in Fremont in 2004, and had been residing at Good Shepherd Home in Blair since 2006.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and was a member of the church choir, was former president and secretary of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and was a member since 1940; was a member of St. Paul’s Quilters; she served on the baptism banner committee of the Women’s League and had been an Arbor Manor Nursing Home communion assistant. She was a former member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church at Cedar Bluffs and held office in the Walther League.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald J. and Elaine Royuk of Seward; two daughters and son-in-law, Beverly Greunke of Arlington and Linda and Paul Staros of Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Gloria Royuk of Fremont; sister, Alberta Jurgens of Fremont; sisters-in-law, Theresa Hoffmann of Fremont and Lillian Royuk of Arlington; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in February of 1989; son, Norman R. “Dick” Royuk; sister, Irene Gisselmann,; son-in-law, Lyle Greunke; two brothers, Fred and Wilfred Hoffmann.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School, and Concordia University in Seward.
