Norman R. Royuk, 61, of North Bend, died Monday March 22, 2004, at Fremont Area Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 26, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Bend with the Rev. Carl Groh officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. Thursday, March 25, at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday, one hour prior to services.

Norma R. “Dick” Royuk was born Oct. 18, 1942, in Fremont to John and Esther Royuk. He grew up in Arlington, was a graduate of St. Paul’s Lutheran School and was a 1960 graduate of Arlington High School. He attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, then started farming and worked for his father at Parkway Truck Stop in Fremont.

On Jan. 26, 1963, he married Gloria Masters at the Congregational Church in Arlington. After his marriage, he farmed near Arlington until moving to the North Bend area in 1967, where he farmed until his retirement in the fall of 2000.

Mr. Royuk was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Bend, where he volunteered, was a member of the choir, was vice president of the congregation, served as a church elder, mid-week teacher, and served in many other capacities in his church. He was a member and past president of the Lutheran Laymen’s League; was a life member of the National Rifle Association; member of Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. He was a devoted family-man. He played on basketball and softball leagues and was an avid hunter.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sandra Royuk of Fremont; three daughters and sons-in law, Lisa and Jeff Dobbs of Fremont, Gina and Bret Williams and Julie and Troy Meade, all of Omaha; mother, Esther Royuk of Arlington; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Elaine Royuk of New Orleans, La., two sisters and a brother-in-law, Beverly Greunke of Arlington and Linda and Paul Staros of Baltimore, Md.; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Royuk; mother and father-in-law, Fred and Harriett Masters; and a brother-in-law, Lyle Greunke.

Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
