Martha O. McClure, 9, of Blair, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Services were Monday, Jan. 28, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Interment was at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Omaha.

Martha Opal Stinson was born Jan. 28, 1915, in Nelson t Merritt and Alice (Raynard) Stinson.

On Sept. 12, 1936, she married Guy B. McClure at Pearl United Methodist Church in Omaha.

The McClures were appointed to their first church in 1936, which was Student Charge, Country Church of Fairview-Valley at Silver Creek.

Throughout their life, they served churches in the following communities; two years in Tenton; Asbury Methodist in Omaha for 15 years; Sutherland for eight years; Laurel for eight years; before finally moving to the Valley and Elk City area. While serving there, Mr. McClure served as assistant administrator and chaplain of Crowell Memorial Home. Later, Mr. McClure was appointed as administrator.

Meanwhile, while the couple lived in Laurel, Mrs. McClure worked as a doctor’s assistant at the clinic in Wayne. When they moved to the Omaha area, she worked in the medical records department at the Douglas County Hospital, where she was in charge of the transcription department. She took a two-year course in medical record management and received her A.R.T. certification. She worked at the hospital for 12 ½ years.

She also worked at Crowell Home, where she set up patient records for skilled nursing. She was also the consultant to a nursing home in Omaha where she assisted with workshops, with NAAH, for administrators.

After her husband’s death in 1978, she moved to Holdrege to be near her son and his family. In Holdrege, she worked for the Central Nebraska Mental Health Center as A.R.T.-secretary/bookkeeper. She retired at the age of 71 and moved to Des Moines, Iowa, in 1966.

While in Des Moines she underwent open-heart surgery. A year after, she moved to the independent living apartments at Crowell Home.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Guy L. and Ann of Shepherd, Texas, and James S. and Bonnie of Gretna; three granddaughters, five grandsons; six great-grandsons and seven great-granddaughters; sisters-in-law, Wilhelmina Stinson of Florida and Kathy Stinson of Omaha; brother-in-law, Carl H. Anderson of Omaha; sisters, Audrey Ryan of Lincoln and Ruby Price of Des Moines.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beulha Anderson; and two brothers, Charles Stinson and William Stinson.
