The funeral for Andrew M. “Andy”, 74, of Chandler, Ariz., formerly of Fremont, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Fremont.

He died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center Hospice in Phoenix, Ariz.

Ruhrer was born May 5, 1931 in Fremont to Andres and Elsie (Schulz) Ruhrer. He grew up in Fremont, graduating from Fremont High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War from Oct. 20, 1950 until Aug. 25, 1954. He moved to Omaha in 1960 and returned to Fremont in 1971. He married Ruth A. Niederdeppe Dec. 6, 1968, in Fremont. He worked at the former Campbell’s Soup Company in Omaha and later owned Andy’s Electric until retiring Dec. 31, 1995. He moved to Chandler in 2001.

He was a former member of First United Methodist Church in Fremont, a former member of the Pathfinder Cosmopolitan Club in Fremont, a member of the Masonic Lodge 15, A.F. & A.M., of Fremont, and served many years as a Boy Scout leader.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Matt (and wife Brenda) Ruhrer of Ames; and Troy (and wife, Kim) Ruhrer of Gilbert, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Marcus and Nicholas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Elsie (Schulz) Ruhrer; and an infant sister.

The Rev. Ron Croom will officiate Tuesday’s service. There is no visitation; however, friends may sign the register book 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Telbasta Cemetery in Telbasta. Memorials may be made to Mid American Council of the Boy Scouts of American and the American Cancer Society.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
