Wilhelm A. Schroeder, 99

Long-time Pender resident Wilhelm A. Schroeder, 99, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair, following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Pender. Interment will be in St. Peters Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender.

Wilhelm A. “Buck” Schroeder was born Sept. 29, 1905, on a farm near Pender to Heinrich and Aline (Ellinghusen) Schroeder.

He enlisted in the Armed Forces on July 17, 1942, and was assigned to a military police unit in England. He was honorably discharged Nov. 10, 1945.

After his service in the military, he worked at various vocations in different locations. He eventually returned to Pender, where he enjoyed being with family and friends.

He was known as an avid sportsman, bowler and golfer.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
