Katherine C. Schuette, 92

Former Herman resident, Katherine C. Schuette, 92, of Fremont, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at Edgewood Vista.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Winslow. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Katherine C. Lang was born March 26, 1915, in Hooper to Ernest and Emma (Pawling) Lang. The family lived in Hooper briefly before moving to the Herman area where they farmed. She attended school in Herman and helped out her father on the farm and also helped raise the other eight children in the family.

On June 22, 1941, she married Donald Husk in Blair. The couple moved to the Hooper area in 1946, where they farmed, moving into Hooper shortly before Mr. Husk’s death in 1982.

On Aug. 10, 1988, she married William Schuette in Sidney. The couple made their home in Hooper. After her husband’s death in 1991, Mrs. Schuette stayed in Hooper, then moved to Nye Square in Fremont. She was a resident of Nye Square until recently moving to Edgewood Vista.

Mrs. Schuette was a current member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont, the VFW Auxiliary of Hooper, and former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Winslow and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hooper and their Ladies Aid.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Wayne Panning of Hooper and Donna and Larry Hintz of Fremont; son-in-law Dave Puhl of Omaha; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Neil and Janet Lang of Arlington and Donald and Shirley Lang of Blair; sisters and brothers-in-law, Selma Haig and Elva Hansen, both of Blair; and Fern and Orland Krohn of Hooper; brother-in-law, Robert Broderson, of Oakland; sisters-in-law, Arlene Lange and Vera Husk, both of Blair, and Grace Husk of Herman; two step-daughters Joyce Schuette and Luella and Gerald Jahnke; four stepsons, Kenneth, Larry, Leon, and Delbert Schuette; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen and Larry Kuhr, and Jane Puhl; a grandson, Jeffery Puhl; two sisters and one brother.

Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund and Alzheimer’s Association.
