Bonnie G. (Guy) Conway, 76

Bonnie Glea (Guy) Conway, 76, of Fort Calhoun died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Abiding Faith Baptist Church in Fort Calhoun. Inurnment will be private. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun.

Bonnie Glea Guy was born June 1, 1937, in Blair to Clinton and Irene (Rueling) Guy.

She graduated from Blair Central High in 1955.

She was married for 50 years t John W. Conway Sr. From this union a son, John W. Conway Jr., was born.

She worked hard all of her life for Wilkinson Manufacturing in retail sales, owned two restaurants, was executive administrative assistant for her brother’s company GBA for 20 years, then worked under new ownership for Hockenberg-Newberg until 2005. She retired from Northern Food Sales.

Over the years, the couple enjoyed the local dances together and she excelled at a career selling “Home Interiors.”

She was involved in VFW Auxiliary and the AM-VETS Auxiliary in Blair.

She was a charter member of the Abiding Faith Baptist Church in Fort Calhoun and was very active in Bible Studies and church activities. She considered this church her “family” and so many loving friends stepped up to help her in so many ways, especially moving from her home in Fort Calhoun to her apartment in Blair. For this, her family will forever be grateful.

In later years, she also enjoyed many vacations with her son.

She will be remembered as a wonderful mom, grandma and friend whose faith sustained her throughout her whole life.

She is survived by a son, John W. Jr. (Char) Conway of Blair; stepdaughter; Patricia (Bill) Nielsen of Blair; sister Bernice Scott of Blair; brother Warner (Betty) Guy of Buckeye, Ariz.; four granddaughters; Crystal Conway of Olathe, Kan., Amy Conway of Gretna, Bridget (Conway) Thompson and husband Jake of Lincoln and Robin Tierney and husband Tim of Minnetrista, Minn.; one grandson, Randy R. Hardy of Tucson, Ariz.; great-grandchildren; Shelby, Alex and Deklan, Mikaela and Aryana, Skylar and Brooklyn, Patrick, Kaitlyn and Bryan, Robert R. Jr., and Heather and husband David Eldridge; great-great-grandchildren; Carter and Garrett; one niece and six nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Conway Sr. in 2006; and great-granddaughter Ashley Conway.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Conway family.
