Mrs. McCormack Dead

Mrs. Nancy McCormack, who has long been a resident of Washington county, died at the Blair hospital Monday. For many months she had made her home at this institution, having no other home. A few days ago she fell, breaking her arm and did not long survive the shock.

She has three children, two daughters and one son, the latter, Clarence McCormack, being a resident of Blair. One daughter, residing at Scottsbluffs, arrived in time for the funeral, which was held from the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon, and burial took place in the Blair cemetery.

Tribune 4 March 1914

Mrs. Nancy McCormick died at the Blair hospital Sunday morning, March 1, 1914. She had been at the hospital about two years and had been quite feeble. On the morning of February 18th she fell down stairs and broke her arm, and it is thought the shock caused her death. She was born in Ohio, May 14, 1834, and was nearly 80 years old at the time of her death. She leaves one son, Clarence, of Blair, and one daughter, Mrs. Laura Tietsort, of Scottsbluff. The body was taken to the home of her son, Clarence, Monday and the funeral held from the Christian church at 2:00 o’clock Tuesday, Rev. Charles Ewers conducting the last sad rites. The body was interred in the Blair cemetery.

Pilot 4 March 1914

Mrs. Nancy McCormick died at the city hospital at 9:40 last Sunday evening from the shock of falling and breaking her arm, as was reported in these columns last week. The funeral was held at the Christian church, of which she was a member for many years, at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon, Rev. J. M. Kokjer, of the Congregational church, officiating in the absence of the pastor of that church, who lives in Lincoln. Nancy Wright was born in Ohio May 14th, 1834, and was therefore almost 80 years of age. She was married to Martin V. McCormick, of the same state September 16th, 1862, and came to this state the following year, settling first at the then thriving town of DeSoto. They later moved onto a farm out on the Papio, near the Brewster school house. After Mr. McCormick’s death, some 18 years ago, Mrs. McCormick and son, Clarence, moved to this city, buying the place on South street where Clarence is now living. Owing to failing health and old age she was taken to the hospital a year or so ago, where death found her patiently waiting last Sunday evening. Besides Clarence she leaves but one daughter, Mrs. M. N. Tietsort, of Scottsbluff, Neb., who was present, with her husband for the funeral.
