Pilot Tribune, Blair, NE 24 July 1924

Our people were greatly shocked last Friday morning when it became known that James McCracken had passed away early that morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. Henry Tiesort at Laurel, Neb.; he having gone to Omaha with his brother, John and Mr. and Mrs. Tiesort to visit another sister, Mrs. Walter Nelson, before going to Laurel on Thursday.

"Jim", as he was known to everyone, has been working for Clyde Rosenbaum for the past couple of years. After constant urging by Mr. and Mrs. Rosenbaum, he consented to go to the doctor when he became too ill to work the week before. No one suspected that his condition was so serious as he was about town as usual on Sunday and on Wednesday went to Fremont to visit with his brothers, Will and Anderson. Jim has lived in and near Kennard all of his life and was a friend to everybody, children being his special friends. Always kind and willing to help where ever he could be of any use, he will be greatly missed from our midst. He leaves three sisters, Mrs. Henry Tietsort of Laurel, Mrs. D. Hall of Wayne and Mrs. Walter Nelson of Benson, and five brothers, Robert of Frederick, So. Dak., John of Laurel, Will and Anderson of Fremont and Thomas of Omaha and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m., Monday when Rev. Smith had charge of the services. Interment being at the Kennard Cemetery.

Note: His grave is unmarked at the Kennard Cemetery and its location is unknown.
