Ex-Blairite Dies at 46

Harold McCracken Dead; Wife And Two Children Survive Him

Ill more than a year with a lung infection, Harold McCracken, 46, former Blairite, died Saturday in a veterans’ hospital at Tucson, Ariz. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter McCracken of Blair. His step-mother, Mrs. Anna McCracken lives here. Mrs. Henry Christensen of Blair is his aunt.

Native of Blair, James Harold McCracken was born Sept. 12, 1899, and was graduated from Blair high school in 1917. He was a veteran of World War I. Shortly after the war he moved to Scottsbluff, and about 16 years ago moved with his family to Long Beach, Calif. He had been in war work until he became ill.

Surviving Mr. McCracken are his wife: one daughter, Kathleen, 17, and a son, Michael, 3. Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Hans Christensen (Ruth) Mrs. Earl Heath (Lucille) and Mrs. Gaines Butterfield (Dorothy), all of Miami, Fla.

Because transportation accommodations could not be obtained, the sisters were unable to attend funeral services, which took place at Long Beach this week.

J. H. McCRACKEN BURIED IN CALIF.

Relatives have been notified of the death of Harold McCracken which occurred in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, February 9th, after a lingering illness. He developed a lung infection from working in a defense plant which caused his death.

Harold was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter McCracken, a graduate of the Blair High School and a veteran of World War I.

His family consisted of a wife and two children.

Burial will be at Long Beach, California.
