John McCracken Buried October 24

John G. McCracken passed away October 22nd at the Community Memorial Hospital where he had been confined for two weeks.

He was born December 31, 1874 on a farm near Blair and except for fifteen years in Denver, he lived in Blair and Washington County all his life. On March 11, 1896 he was married to Orpha Pearl Young and they observed their 67th wedding anniversary this year.

Mr. McCracken farmed on the bench road north of Blair until 1917 when he moved to Blair. For a number of years he was engaged in the livestock business; later, he worked as Toll Taker for the Blair Bridge.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Orpha Pearl one daughter Mrs. George Hedelund (Vera), one son William of Denver, Colorado, and a brother Hugh of Omaha. A son, Raymond, preceded him in death. Seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. October 24th at the Blair Methodist Church with the Campbell Mortuary in charge. The Rev. Dale Westadt will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Al Sick, Martin Hedelund, Carl Schmidt, Ernest Tornblad, Walter Gutschow and Fred Long.
