Edytha Ann "Eddy" Singleton (Nielsen, Burke), 87, of Overland Park, Kan., died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Sharon Lane Nursing Home in Shawnee, Kan.

A visitation will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at D.W. Newcomers Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, with a graveside service to follow at 12 p.m. at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be at a later date.

Edytha Ann "Eddy" Nielsen was born June 6, 1926, in Wood, S.D., to Andrew and Edith Nielsen. She was the second of four children.

She attended Blair High School and graduated in 1943.

She married Don Singleton in Tulsa, Okla., on Nov. 2, 1971.

She was a resident of Shawnee Mission, Kan., for 58 years and was employed by Amoco Oil as an office administrator for 15 years.

She was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband, Don Singleton; her brother, Bill Nielsen, and wife Pat; sister Phyllis Maxwell; and sons, Steven C. Burke and Thomas S. Burke and wife Amy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew Nielsen; and son David T. Burke.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all memorial contributions be made to Crossroads Hospice, 11150 Thompson Ave., Lenexa, KS 66218.
