Titus “John” Shotwell, 83, of Blair, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at First United Methodist Church in Blair.

Titus “John” Shotwell was born May 31, 1930, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Titus and Evelyn Grace (Barrett) Shotwell.

After he graduated from high school, he attended college and served in the United States military, stationed in Alaska.

In 1960, he married Betty Sparby. The couple was married for 24 years until her death in 1984.

On Jan. 19, 1985, he married Evelyn “Maxine” Schneider.

In 1977, he moved to Blair and started the Blair Glass Company. He worked in the glass business most of his life and retired in 1990 after selling the business. After his retirement he continued working. He drove a school bus for 12 years, volunteered at the Washington County Recycling Center six days a week for many years and for the last several years, worked as a delivery driver for Shopko Pharmacy.

He served as a Blair city councilman for 20 years and served on the board of directors for Crowell Home for 12 years.

He served in several offices at the First United Methodist Church in Blair, was a member of the Herman American Legion Post 274 and was a member of the Masons.

He is survived by his stepdaughters, Camilla Conner and Karen Andreasen; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister Emma Jean Haley of California; several nieces, nephews, friends, and his faithful companion, Max.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Shotwell; wife Evelyn “Maxine” Shotwell; brother George Shotwell; and sister Selma Roddell.
