(veteran) Charles W. Rutledge, 86, of Payson, Ariz., died April 19, 2005. Funeral services were held at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Payson. Interment was at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park, also in Payson.

Charles William Rutledge was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Herman, to David and Ellen Rutledge.

Mr. Rutledge was a retired lieutenant colonel, serving 27 years with the U.S. Air Force during World Was II, Korea and the Vietnam wars and as a pilot with the FAA for 12 years.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen R. Rutledge; son, Charles Stanley Rutledge of Rome, Italy; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was the great-uncle of Carl Rennerfeldt of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine; three brothers William, Roy and Ivan; and two sisters, Bethel and Vivian.
