Josie Rutledge, 95, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at Ashland Nursing Home. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14. at the Herman United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Josie E. Rutledge was born May 2, 1904 to Absalom and Mary (Pierce) Miller in Huron, Ind. She graduated from Herman High School in 1922 and attended Lincoln for two years. She taught at rural schools in Bertha and Orum.

On Dec. 18, 1924, she married Roy Rutledge in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple lived and farmed in the Herman area until moving to Oakland in 1941, where they operated a restaurant.

She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Jay (Peggy) Rennerfeldt of Papillion, and Mary Holt of Kearney; sons and daughters-in-law, Bud and Virginia Rutledge of Plainview, and David and Carol Rutledge of Westminister, Colo.; two brothers-in-law, Dr. David I. Rutledge and Charles Rutledge; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one granddaughter, Jo Ellen; two grandsons, Tom and Jerry; and six sisters and four brothers.

Memorials are suggested to Herman United Methodist Church.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair is in charge of arrangements.
